Bachelor Party (1984)

One Last Bash Before the Big Day

Rick Gassko (Tom Hanks) is about to tie the knot with his girlfriend Debbie, who comes from a wealthy and conservative family. But before the wedding bells ring, Rick’s band of loyal but rowdy friends stages an epic bachelor party in a plush hotel suite complete with strippers, outrageous pranks, and enough chaos to make even the wildest college frat house blush. Along the way, Debbie’s ex and her disapproving parents conspire to sabotage the engagement, pushing Rick’s loyalty and temper to the limit. After the party spirals out of control, the night ends with a car chase, a glorious mess, and Rick doing everything he can to prove love (and fidelity) still matter.

What saves Bachelor Party from being just another raunchy comedy is its lead: Tom Hanks plays Rick with such charm and goofball likability that even when the jokes get gross, you’re rooting for him to come out on top. Director Neal Israel doesn’t shy away from pushing boundaries this film pulls no punches when it comes to alcohol, nudity, and over-the-top physical comedy. But at its heart, there’s a sweet, romantic core: the idea that even amid chaos and bad decisions, love and commitment can still shine through.
